Grand Union Phase 2
Description
Works at the well-known St George site in Wembley commenced in November 2021. Enabling works consisted of a large muck shift, piling mat and piling for 4no blocks ranging from 7 to 18 floors in height. 3no Tower Cranes from TCUK served the project throughout. In-house designs such as temporary works, precast stairs and precast columns (PCUK) were a key part to the success of Phase 2. The early engagement with the design teams resulted in a large conversion rate from in-situ to precast for columns and stairs. The benefits of this resulted in less deliveries to site, programme certainty along with the tower cranes working a lot more efficiently on other elements of the build. Part of the works also consisted of the canal embankment upgrade which was formed alongside the ground works and frames. Our in-house technical and site teams worked closely with the Canal River Trust to get the designs and finished works approved through several meetings and workshops.
